Proctoscopy

Proctoscopy is an endoscopic examination of the anal cavity and the rectum.

The examination helps diagnose proctological problems such as fissures (mucous cracks in the area of the anus), haemorrhoids, as well as oncological diseases (cancer).

What Happens During a Proctoscopy?

Patients usually do not need to prepare for a proctoscopy. As the examination is painless and only takes a few minutes, patients do not require sedatives.
